Comparing
There are many differences between the Mona Lisa and Van Gogh’s self-portrait. Start by looking at the face. You notice that the Mona Lisa is smiling and happy, while Van Gogh is sad and depressed. However, they both have bright, upbeat colors. Another similarity between the two, is that they’re both scaled down in proportions. If you look at the faces of the paintings again, you notice that they’re both the focal points of the entire portrait. The brush strokes of the paintings are very different. The Mona Lisa has very fine and smooth brush strokes while Van Gogh’s portrait has what appear to be very thick strokes. As you can see there are many similarities and differences between both of the paintings.
