The Most Memorable

Young Woman with a Water Pitcher was painted between 1632-1675, by a Dutch painter named Johannes Vermeer. The painting is painted in a realistic manner and the woman has a feeling of form and texture to her. Her surrounding space appears to be a well-lighted area that gives the painting a feeling of harmony and balance. A few other elements that help balance this painting are the lines and colors used in the painting. The woman’s face has smooth lines and there are no bold colors that draw attention from her. I believe that this painting should be more famous than the Mona Lisa because it captures an action being performed. While the Mona Lisa is still a great painting, it doesn’t have anything specific happening in it which leaves the painting looking boring and old. |
