Self-Portrait
This painting, by Andy Warhol, was one of his very last creations, painted with silkscreen ink on synthetic polymer paint on a canvas. Unlike some of his other paintings such as Marilyn Monroe, Mao Ze Dong, and Campbell Soup cans, this self-portrait has a very serious and eerie feel to it, his face looks like an anxious artist awaiting his death. This portrait also portrays many things about his life, his obsession with celebrities and even possibly himself, and his love for odd and outlandish wigs to cover those highly despicable bald spots.

This portrait is so much better and should be more famous than the Mona Lisa for several reasons. First beginning with the fact that this Self-Portrait is striking while the Mona Lisa is somewhat common. While the first time viewing the Mona Lisa may seem exciting and marvelouis, a couple times after, the painting doesn't seem thrilling. However, the acid green clouded by the pitch black, the restless look on Warhol's face, these things constantly strike you and make you wonder. And unlike many portraits, including the Mona Lisa, Warhol places the face at the bottom, without the standard neck and shoulders, showing originality and displaying a seemingly disembodied head.
