I think the Girl with the Pearl Earring by Jan Vermeer should be more widely recognized than Leonardo Da Vinci’s the Mona Lisa because the Girl is far modern and more beautiful than the Mona Lisa. The Girl with a Pearl Earring is an excellent example of emphasis and contrast because the black background makes the focal point stand out more. I also think there is more meaning in this painting than in the Mona Lisa. I think that the black background represents the world one must face and the girl is only one small fundamental piece to the world. | |||
