The Mona Lisa is a very famous artwork by Leonardo Da Vinci. The dimensions of the painting are 30 x 20 7/8 in and it took Leonardo four years to complete. Many have been in wonder by Mona Lisa's smile. It is a mysterious smile, nice and calm, yet somewhat of a smirk. People can never tell the mood or the expression that The Mona Lisa is expressing. People have also noticed that the horizon at the back of the painting is uneven, the left side is lower than the right. This has caused much confusion to the Mona Lisa, yet much awe to it. In fact, an employee of the Louvre museum stole The Mona Lisa in 1911. The museum is very big, so it took the police a week to search the entire museum. 27 months later, a man called Vincenzo Perugia tried to sell the painting to another museum, but was caught and The Mona Lisa was safely returned to it's original home.
