A Magic Mali Mask
by Randy

Once long, long time ago there was a tribe that lived in the Sahara desert in Africa and in this tribe was a man. But this was no ordinary man this man had the power to speak to the gods but only if he wore his secret mask. It was a tall, long, and narrow mask and only the one man knew how to use it. Like everyone one day the man died and his mask was kept as a relic of the tribe. The next year there was horrible drought, famine, and plague the people of the tribe had always turned to the man before, when they had a problem. The people didnÕt know what to do so the chief of the tribe decided to hold a contest to see if anyone could find out how to use the mask. So one day people started to line up to try to figure out how to use the mask even people from far, far away came because the prize was to marry the chiefs daughter the most beautiful woman in all the land. Many tried but none could figure it out until one boy came to the throne of the chief. The boy held the mask in his hands and then suddenly he remembered something he had heard the man say before. ÒIshcabibble!Ó the boy shouted out loud. Then the boy was magically able to speak to the gods he told then to please stop all their problems and they agreed. Then the boy got his prize he was immediately married to the chiefs daughter. They had many children and the secret of the mask was passed down in each generation from the on.
