Clay Shoes

Students in Art 1A have made a clay replica of a shoe that they own. It was to be in the style of the Pop artists, Claes Oldenburg or Andy Warhol. Students found it difficult to "think in the round" and plan how to construct their shoes from slabs of clay. They were concerned about negative space and how to support tongues and laces, heels and arches. Here are some great samples:
