Van Gogh's self portrait with gray hat
exemplifies his true talent. The long brushstrokes at first seem not to
gel together but then the longer you gaze upon this masterpiece you feel
it's true beauty. The reason this is the most memorable painting ever
is partly because the story behind it and the long brushstrokes. Van Gogh
throughout his life made many self portraits and as time progressed the
emotion in his self portraits began to change. The manic depression starts
to show until he reaches his breaking point and cuts off his ear. Van
Gogh's unique brushstrokes involve strokes that end up leading to the
eyes. Van Gogh never mixes his brushstrokes and the rough sensation really
is unique. This is the most memorable portrait of all time. |
