This portrait by George Peter Alexander Healy named
Abraham Lincoln should be a more well known painting. This painting is of
a president and is nicely painted. It gives you the sense that this man
in the portrait was or is important. This was made 22 years after Lincoln
was killed. It was oil on wood painting and was made in 1887. It has dull
colors until you reach the carpet, which is a bright red. Even though the
floor is red the emphasis still is his face because it is one of the lighter
parts of the panting. It also has great shading and use of color. |
