The Most Memorable Portrait Paintings

Leonardo Da Vinci started painting the Mona Lisa in 1503, when Mona Lisa was twenty-four years old. It took Da Vinci four years to finish and after he did, he took it to France where he sold it to King Francis I. The Mona Lisa went through many homes including being stolen, but today it is kept in a bulletproof case in Musée du Louvre in Paris.
Mona Lisa’s mysterious smile and eyes attract people from all over the world to come see her. As you walk around it the eyes seems to follow you. Da Vinci used dark and gloomy colors, which make this portrait, look almost real. One strange quality of this portrait is that Mona Lisa has no eyebrows. Nobody knows who Mona Lisa really is but a lot of experts believe it was Leonardo Da Vinci's wife.
