Vincent Van Gogh's Self Portrait and the Mona Lisa |

| In my opinion, Van Gogh’s self portrait
is more meaningful than the famous Mona Lisa. One reason that makes me
think that, is that Van Gogh’s portrait is a self portrait, and
it takes more skill to paint a self portrait than to just paint a portrait
of someone else. I also think that Van Gogh uses a more interesting pattern
of colors in the background, which I think makes the whole painting more
bold and colorful than the Mona Lisa. In my opinion the Mona Lisa has very gloomy background colors and has odd contrast. I think that Van Gogh’s portrait also shows better balance, emphasis, and repetition of colors than the Mona Lisa. Van Gogh perfectly blended the texture, form, and space of his self portrait. |
