I think that my painting has more similarities than contrasts to the Mona Lisa. They are both somewhat realistic portraits of women, however the Mona Lisa is more defined than the painting of Mrs. Montgomery Sears. The Mona Lisa seems to use more earthy tones, while the painting of Mrs. Montgomery combines cool and earthy tones together. Both of the pictures seem to have a veil of gloom layered over them because the Mona Lisa's colors are somewhat dull and dark, and my painting has many more shadows than anything else. To me Mona Lisa seems to blend into the background because her colors are so similar. Mrs. Montgomery Sears however stands out from the background because she is painted in totally opposite colors from the background. Because Mona Lisa blends in so well with the background it is sort of hard to locate the focal point. However in my painting the focal point is so easy to locate because Mrs. Montgomery stands out so much from the background. Lastly, the Mona Lisa of course emphasizes Mona Lisa, but the painting of Mrs. Montgomery Sears emphasizes her dress. So even though there are some sharp contrasts between the two paintings I still think that there are more similarities than differences.
