Characteristic Criteria for Scoring Score

1. Historical Content and Connections

The information presented in the website based on research

• Historical information is factual and demonstrates a high level of understanding of the art.
• Author's opinion is clearly stated and convincing.
• Author compares/contrasts historical time period of the Mona Lisa and selected portrait.
 
2. Aesthetic Valuing
The use of the vocabulary of the elements and principles of art to analyze and interpret a portrait painting
• Originality is demonstrated in content, student uses several art vocabulary terms appropriately.
• Student draws parallels between the Mona Lisa and selected favorite portrait.
• Author's opinion is in his/her own words. 
 
3. Technical Design
The overall navigational design of the site and its inner workings
• Pages are created in Dreamweaver and are viewable in multiple browsers.
• Images are resized to same height using Photoshop
All files are stored in portraitquest folder
• Internal & external links work.
• Site uses color to enhance images.
 

4. Aesthetic Valuing

The ability to observe, process and respond to artwork using personal expression and analysis

• Author demonstrates ability to compare and/or contrast two paintings by synthesizing information from research.
•Author draws parallels between two works of art
• Author uses appropriate and expanding artistic vocabulary in relationship to the study of painting.
 

5. Commitment and Habits of Mind

The work ethic that results in an individual performing to his/her best ability and continually showing progress

• Author consistently worked to his/her best ability.
• Author pushed him/herself to learn new information or techniques with the software applications.
• Author takes proper care of computers.
• No matter what level of knowledge, the author continues to show substantial progress.
