The Girl with a Pearl Earring and the Mona Lisa

The Mona Lisa was painted between 1479 and 1528 by Leonardo da Vinci. It is believed to be a portrait of the wife of Francesco del Giocondo. It was painted during the Renaissance. Jan Vermeer painted the Girl with a Pearl Earring between 1665 and 1666. The style is realism. The reason that I like the Girl with a Pearl Earring better is because I feel as though the background from the Mona Lisa is distracting and I like how the Girl with a Pearl Earring has a black background. The movement in the Girl with a Pearl Earring is more obvious. The expression that every one is so amazed with does nothing but make me not be drawn to the painting even more. The Girl with a Pearl Earring looks as though she was walking away and then someone called her name and she looked back hopefully. I love the expression on her face.
