  • week of March 24 - Books shipped to Ghana Library!!
  • Date:  TBD - Garage Sale, MIddlefield parking lot, 8am to 1pm.

We did it last year... We can do it again this year!!

 This year, Jordan Middle School is collecting 1000 books to send to Fenaso D/A JHS School.  This school serves about 350 students.  As you know, our goal is to collect 1,000 pre-school through 6th grade books.  They also appreciate puzzles, flash cards, educational games in good condition and stationary.

The book drive starts on Feb 24th with the opening of the Buy One Get One Book Fair in the library.
The school in Ghana wants books at preschool to 4th grade reading level.

What kind of books to donate?

* books about universal subjects
* classics
* science and reference
* new books or gently used books
* preferably paperbacks, because of shipping costs and the African termites who love hardback books!

What kind of books NOT to donate?

* books about our teen culture (Clique, Wimpy Kid, etc.)
* books about religion, holidays, American celebrations, American history

We will be holding a garage sale to raise the money for shipping. We need to ship the books to New Orleans - $200 to get the books to New Orleans - and $300 to ALP to ship from New Orleans to Africa. So, we need to raise approximately $500.
