B: And here are the announcements for Monday, November 16, 2009
A: To start off, here are the winners of the Question of the week
B: But first, the question: Why is a pilot (like and airplane pilot) called a pilot?
A: There are two answers: the word pedotes in ancient Greek means to steer, and pilota in Italian also means to steer.
B: The other answer is that the man who first piloted a hot air balloon in 1783 was named Pilotre, so we named it after him.
A: The winners were Natasha W. and Mathew S., and also a prize for Ms. Doran for suggesting the question.  
B: Congrats to all of the winners and pick up your prizes in the library.
A: Vivian, I want to be in the science fair, but I don't know too much about it.  Can you help me?
B: Well, I don't think I can, but here's a segment that will help you out!

A: You know what, Vivian ? I think that we should have more dances at Jordan or maybe "green up the school".
B: Well why don't you apply to become a team rep?
A: Huh?
B: If you're a student who wants to improve Jordan and voice your opinions and those of your peers, apply to be an advisory rep!
A: Cool! But how do I get an application?
B: Pick one up next to the student council box in the front office and fill out a short questionnaire. Then, return it to one of your core teachers (that's English, math, science, and social studies), except for 8th graders, not your math teacher.
A: Team leaders, don't forget to check your box in the office with important information relating to this!
B: 1 rep will be chosen for every 6th grade core and 2 reps for every 7th and 8th grade team. Team teachers will be choosing the reps.
A: So if you want to make a difference at Jordan and express your cool ideas, apply to become a team rep!
B: Hey Joe, have you heard about intramural  basketball?
A: Yeah!
B: Sign ups are at lunch today, Tuesday, and Wednesday in the Gym!  See Mrs. Becker if you have any questions.
A: So, Vivian, do you like dances?
B: Of course!
A: Well, that's great, because there is a Jordan Dance this week on Friday for 7th and 8th graders.  Tickets are on sale now, so go out and buy, Jordan!
B: and Sixth graders, don't forget, you have a Mitchell Park Dance also on Friday!  Enjoy!
