The Homework Center

pencil For those of you who are unfamiliar with the homework center, here is a quick overview: The Homework Center is open to all students. It is held in the library from 3:00 to 4:30 Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. It is a place to do homework and receive help if needed. Volunteer tutors are on hand to help and support students with their assignments.

Behavioral Expectations

In order to have the HWC/MC be most helpful to students; certain behavioral expectations will be strictly enforced. There is no talking. Students may ONLY discuss homework while in the center. There is no socializing. If a student is asked to move they must follow the direction the first time it is given.

Students having difficulty following the rules of the Homework Center will be given one warning to help them modify their behavior. If problems persist, the student will be asked to leave for the rest of the day and given a note explaining why they were asked to leave. Students who are asked to leave will be able to re-enter the homework center the following day only if they have had this letter signed by a parent.

Parent meetings will be requested for students who exhibit consistent behavior problems. Our goal is to make the Homework Center /Math Center productive places where everyone can work and receive help in order to achieve there fullest potential.

PROOF OF ATTENDANCE

At the end of each session students will be given a slip proving their attendance for the day. In addition, each student will be given a small treat. Many teachers at Jordan accept the HWC/MC attendance slip towards rewards or for extra credit in their classes.

We are looking forward to an exciting and productive year in the Homework Center! If you have any questions please feel free to call or email Mrs. Roach.
