Introducing Dr. Michael Milliken
New Jordan Middle School Principal
We are pleased to announce
that Superintendent, Dr. Kevin Skelly will be recommending to the
Board at its April 8, 2008, meeting Dr. Michael Milliken as
Principal of Jordan Middle School, effective July 1, 2008. |
The Jordan Principal Selection Input Committee felt that Dr. Milliken
was very well qualified to lead Jordan Middle School. They highly
valued his thoughtfulness, his passion for education, and his focus
on student success. Dr. Milliken devoted much of his graduate study
to secondary education issues and has served as an elementary school
principal. His broad K-12 experience will help deepen our institutional
capacity around the important transition and education issues associated
with middle school.
Dr. Milliken brings a wealth of experience with him. He began his
career in education teaching elementary school in San Diego, CA.
He then taught fifth grade and seventh grade mathematics in Bethesda,
MD. Dr. Milliken returned to California after four years teaching
on the East Coast to complete his graduate studies at Stanford University.
For the past three years, Dr. Milliken has been principal at Graham
Elementary School in the Newark Unified School District.
Dr. Milliken earned a Bachelor of Arts—Political Science from
Stanford University. He earned his Masters degree and Doctorate of
Education—Education Administration from Stanford University.
Dr. Milliken lives with his family in Los Altos. |
