INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup lard
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tsp baking powder

Egg Wash: (1 egg whisked)

For Pink Cookies add 1/2 to 1 tsp red food coloring and brush egg wash on cookies and sprinkle with sugar

For Cookies with candy sprinkles:
Brush egg wash on cookies and sprinkle confetti candies on prior to baking

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Mix together shortening, lard and sugar until well blended. Mix in the rest of the ingredients until smooth.
3. Shape into 20-24 patties (about the size of golf balls), flatten, brush egg wash and add sprinkles or sugar
4. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for 20 minutes.
