Student Council Report
Magazine drive was not successful. PTA feedback for the
Magazine drive was not positive since magazines are not what people want to
buy. Student Body fund will cover expenses for this year because they have a
carryover. Student council will need a waiver from the PTA to have more than
one fundraiser each year. Any ideas for fundraisers for next year would be
welcome.
There will be one Advisory representative per each Advisory
this year.
The student council had their first official meeting.
Sixth grade officers were elected in October.
Review of Jordan SPSA 2008-2009 Plan
Michael asked for approval of the Jordan Single Plan for
Student Achievement 2008-2009. Michael mentioned that this is a transition year
as far as the district goals are concerned, so we will focus on our school
strategies and what we are going to achieve in our activities. We need them to
reflect what we plan to do this year. The SPSA is a formal required document by
state ed code. We are held accountable at the end of the school year for
following through with our plans. Michael will make sure that we have common
formatting that is aligned with other middle schools. For instance, the sub
headings in first column are standard across schools.
In the spring do we want to take a hard look at the document
and create a document for next year that reflects our vision for Jordan, new
PAUSD board goals. If we do this
we can hit the ground running in the fall. Or do we want to develop plan in the
fall after the test scores come in? Are subject headings negotiable?
The 2008-2009 SPSA plan was amended and approved.
PTA Report
Jordan Student Directory should be completed within a week.
On behalf of the PTA, Michael informed staff about PTA extra funds and teachers
should reply with requests by Nov 21.
