  • Several parents have volunteered to come in and help with the student surveys.

ERB Results — Suzanne

  • Results are nearly identical to last year and two years ago. We are 80th percentile in terms of like schools. There were no startling results to report. Slight dip in 7th grade.
  • Dr. Garrison will be meeting with the English teachers in February to go over the scores and how they can be used to inform instruction.
  • Mean scores are very close at all 3 middle schools
  • Think about doing some sort of educational piece in the Jordan Journal for parents

ACS Update - Dr. Rey, Executive Director

  • Services are on 6 campuses. Services are free.
  • Jordan program includes a licensed therapist and two clinical interns. Thirty-seven students have been seen so far this year. Most referrals come through counselors, parents, teachers, and kids seen in the past.
  • Generally see students for academic issues, issues related to parents, school discipline, peers, divorce, and new students. Also held a new student group in the fall and are planning two groups in the spring (anger management and friendships).

Monitor School Plan — Hillary

  • Literacy goals have not yet been addressed as fully as they could be. We are looking at students who are not meeting goals. We haven’t had any staff development to help them meet the goal.
  • Teachers do seem to be improving in information literacy skills.
  • Students shared their experiences with writing in their English, Science, Social Studies and Math classes
  • We are spending more time and focusing more energy on writing this year.
  • Feedback from the Diversity Panels was very positive and this has a good impact on school climate

Monitor Budget — Suzanne

No changes at this time

SEBI Updates

  • Annie - Diversity Panels will not become one of the 3 year rotation events.
  • Betty - First administration/student luncheon was held. Twenty-two students attended. Three more events have been planned.
  • Mark — funds in the amount of $700 were approved for posters
  • Rebecca — InClass issues seem to be improving. Parents can now change their password. Most staff members are using InClass
  • Julie — received only one response for kids who are doing interesting things. Add to announcements and put a box in the office.

PTA Update — Rebecca

  • Library garden is underway. Two parents are driving the cause and soliciting donations.
  • ACS is not as used at Jordan as much as the other schools.
  • Many donations have been made to teacher wish lists
  • PTA is starting to recruit volunteers to promote parcel tax in April and May.
  • Effort for docents to meet parents in Jordan lobby and help them find what they need and make it seem more welcoming.

JFC Update — Rebecca

Six of ten proposals were approved for JFC funds. The other 4 proposals were more related to facilities or classroom supplies. Will accept a second round of proposals and if those are not sufficient individual reimbursements for teachers may increase.
