JFC grant deadline on Friday March 16th

Staff will be trained on Code Red; will be a Code Red drill

Presentation from Green Square Consulting (environmental action team)

Increasing enrollment (range could be 950-1100); could be facility expansion (team like wing); potential for additional 6th grade teacher

Student survey – dances decreasing enrollment (last one cancelled)

Katia Peterson will present at Ed Council Meeting (April)

Video series The World of Chemistry (high school) - Supplement what can't be done in the classroom (8.3 Structure of Matter - explosions) (available on DVD)

 

Voyages Through Time CD-ROM based curriculum (9th Grade Integrated Science) – 6 units (use those related to astronomy)

Text focuses on state standards (not a good source to meet district standards); astronomy poorly taught through labs

Example shown – galaxy collisions and mergers

Student Council Report

Student Council (Tia 6th Grade President, Sara 6th Grade Secretary)

Not enough budget to cover all of clubs; sent out letter to ask teachers to if they might be willing to run clubs without compensation

$500 short – fundraiser

Pennies for Patients (over $5000) – 6th grade class winners donated money to charity

Fundraiser for electronic waste – April 23 (Earth Day) – posters and JTV spots; additionally in the "green" spirit, attention will be given to raising awareness of garbage problem on campus (again with JTV assistance)

As a school, consistently ask much less from PiE – items funded by Site Council have been funded through PiE for other schools

Site Council analyzes results (i.e. in the past more staff dev has been allocated to InClass due to feedback of inconsistent use)
