Open Forum and Correspondence

There were no visitors, nor correspondence for consideration at the meeting.

PrincipalÕs Report

The Social NormÕs Survey produced decorations, which were judged, and the winners were announced.

The electives for the coming year will be the same electives as available this year.

There was a small fire outside the cafetorium overnight as well as two other incidents of posters being burned at night.  A child was caught in these crimes but was not a Jordan student.  There is now an investigation into the use of video cameras and the investment it would take to have them in all the schools in Palo Alto.  Bike theft is another issue that has come to the attention of school administration.

Honor Roll celebrations will be held in late April for each class with ice cream.

The Computer Support position has opened up since the previous computer support person left to pursue other interests.  The second computer cart replacement is about to be purchased with the donated funds from Jordan families.

The Teacher Retreat discussion on the ŌJohn Collins Writing ProgramĶ was well received.  The Program Consultants were impressive and the teachers attending were very excited about it working well in all disciplines.

PTA Report

There is a deficit in the PTA funding so the PTA has decided not to provide funding for additional projects at this time from its surplus in case the JFC has an urgent need.  The overall annual giving is down from the previous years.

Student Council Report

Pennies for Patients did not have a huge turnout for the kick off and they will take the boxes around to the Advisories for the students to take home.  The CoinStar machines will take in the coins collected and automatically assign to the Leukemia/Lymphoma charity.  There will be awards for the first and second winners for most collected coins.

Small Group Discussion on Survey

The group voted to approve final versions of the surveys.

SEBI ideas were discussed briefly, such as:

-       early morning activities/supervision needs

-       tutoring scholarships

-       writing brochure for parents on the Collins Writing Program

-       Art Club from PALY to assist Jordan students painting murals in the gym

The next meeting will spend additional time working on SEBIÕs that may be implemented within the rest of the school year and ongoing.

Meeting was adjourned.
