PTA Report

Karen Karpen will be president of the PTA again and executive vice president will be her husband, Glen, this coming school year, who will be the PTA representative on the Site Council. The PTA spent the reserve funds this year so there will be $60,000 less in the budget next year, down from $120,000.  There will not be the landscaping expense next year which was required this year.  The technology budget is still in flux since the District is discussing at a District level.  Teacher grants were not fully utilized this year so they will be cut somewhat next year. Only six or seven grants were requested this school year.  Teacher reimbursements, however, were well used at $200 per teacher being allotted for their classroom use, so these will be increased next year.  The Boundary Committee is looking for one more representative from Jordan to begin discuss school attendance boundaries next fall.  There will be approximately 40 members on the committee.

Student Council Report

All representatives have been elected for the three grades for next school year. The budget is defined and looks to be in good shape.

Principal’s Report

The year is wrapping up as planned with end of year field trips, promotion of 8th graders, year book distribution, turning in text books, final test and projects being finished.

All books are to be turned in by Wednesday the 14th of June.

Survey Discussion

The main agenda item for this meeting was the results of the surveys taken recently by teachers, parents and students, including social norm’s.  June 27th the school board will get the final assessment from the District Assessment Office.  Survey results have been distributed to department heads for each academic area as well as other relevant school and district staff for their information.

School Plan

The School Plan was briefly reviewed again in the context of what has transpired over the course of this school year. Particular value could be seen if the Teams could have no more than 22 students per 4 teacher Team.  Communication between Team members and parents can be improved, possibly by more use of InClass, student conferences beyond the sixth grade, Team newsletters or other methods of ongoing communication.

Meeting was adjourned and the Jordan Site Council will not meet again until the new school year.
