Kites were invented in China. Kites were being flown regularly by 1000 B.C. It was constructed by silk, bamboo, and sinew. A Chinese engineer named Kungshu Phan made a wooden bird that didn't descend for three days, this took place in the fourth century. The kites were used for pleasure but more for military purposes. The military used them as distractions then attacked. Kites eventually reached Europe in the late twelve hundreds.
