Weekly Announcements

1. Request announcements about Student Council meetings.

2. Chirag and Amanda to give announcements on Wednesday.

 

6th grade elections

After magazine drive – will discuss later.

 

Budget

1. Budget looks good. Ms. Perry moved some things around to make the budget work.

2. We will be transferring funds so that we zero out negative balances.

a. Yearbook made a lot of money, so we will be able to transfer $4216 to Student Council. (see attachment #1) Yearbook going with cheaper company and charged a bit more AND yearbooks are nice!

b. Transferring $2,692 from emergency savings. (see attachment #1)

            c. Transferring $3390 from General Fund. (see attachment #1)

d. We have been spending $11,000 on Referees every year with student body paying for $5000 of it. Joe Ginanni has agreed to use the money from the City of Palo Alto to pay the whole amount. (See attachment #2)

7. Proposed budget last year was about $40,000. Now after zeroing out, we will need to allocate $19,617. Magazine drive will generate this money.

8.Voted on new budget, all 7 members approved the budget. One member (Michael Y.) was not present and did not vote.

9. David L., Treasurer, signed transfer of fund approvals.

 

Magazine Drive

1. Assemblies September 15.

2. After assemblies, magazine drive runs for two weeks.

3. Have posters up next week so people are informed of the fundraiser before the assembly. Give people a heads up.

 

4. Sharon Ofek, VP arrived approx. 12:45. She says that:

a.     Bulk of sales come from 6th graders, want 8th graders to participate more.

b.     Proposed a special incentive for 8th graders. Turn in day?

c.     JUST FOR 8th GRADERS – leave school at about 11:00 to go to Giants game vs. Arizona. Turn in a certain amount of subscriptions and you can go. Open to the first 45 kids.

d.     Baseball game is September 27.

e.     The idea is that the students would be going with friends, not parents.

f.      Not doing limo ride this year.

g.     ALSO - If everyone in an advisory class sold just one subscription, then theyÕd get a prize -  7th and 8th graders only.

h.     Finalize prize schedule by the end of the week.

 

5. Vote on baseball game as 8th grade incentive, 7 members approve the baseball game as 8th grade Magazine Drive incentive. Michael Y. was not present and did not vote.
