Member Announcements
1. Need two Student Council officers to go to the 6th grade Pride Assembly today. Max and David offered to go. Chirag will be there too because he's in Leadership.
2. Max suggested we give each other our emails, so we can stay in contact. He will copy the email addresses.
Magazine Drive
1. On the first turn-in day, sales were awful! In the past, we've averaged $10,000 on the first turn-in day, and this year we've only brought in $4000.
2. For the eighth grade only baseball game, the magazine company purchased 50 tickets. So far, 2 students are attending the game.
3. So, we need to talk to our advisories and get them to sell! Get their friends to sell!
4. Everything we do at this school--dances, clubs, honor roll--is funded by the Magazine Drive. If you want better stuff, SELL MAGAZINES.
Advisory Reps
1. Advisory reps must be elected by today, September 20th.
2. There's no clear role spelled out for the Advisory Reps; they're excited but they don't know exactly what they're going to do. We need to have our first meeting soon.
3. Agenda for the first meeting should be done ASAP after Chirag meets with Ms. Sano. (Chloe, Amanda, and Max are doing the agenda.)
4. Ask reps if they have any ideas so far or what they want to talk about with us.
Fundraisers
1. If we cut fundraisers, we have more time to carry out our promises. People like to see improvement on their school. Right now they don't really think we're doing anything because all we're doing is fundraisers.
a. Vote on possible new direction will be held in a few weeks.
2. David wants to cut one fundraiser so we're still helping others out, but also having time for ourselves.
3. Amanda suggests cutting the Turkey Trot; the message was completely lost on participants and they only wanted the prize. They were bringing in tea bags to win. Not only was counting them annoying, but people can't live on tea!
4. Chloe brings up the idea of weighing the food that people bring in, so we don't have to count anything.
5. Michael and Amanda want to keep Pennies for Patients because that brings in thousands of dollars and it's easier for families. (Instead of getting cans, they just have to get a few dollars.)
6. There's a burden on us if we cut fundraisers as well: we've been doing these fundraisers for years and the charities will be upset. They're losing thousands of dollars.
