Advisory Rep Meeting Minutes

Questions or comments:

  1. Reps talked to advisories.
  2. One rep and concerns about "weighted" vote in the school elections.
  3. We had a discussion about voting for student council members, some students don't like the formula we have in place, and think the students should have more say.
  4. The good thing about our formula now is that it rules out the popularity factor.
  5. The teachers are giving the reps time to talk about our meetings.

 

World Food Program

  1. This is the charity fundraiser we've decided upon.
  2. This is a program that uses its money to feed children
  3. One rep raised concerns about legitimacy of organization
  4. The fundraiser will start probably sometime in April.

 

Club Signups

  1. There will be some new clubs for second semester, they will talk on JTV today during advisory.
  2. You can sign up for any club at any time, you can just show up at a club.
  3. They will be starting next week.
  4. You can have clubs outside, as long as a teacher is supervising the club.

 

School Fundraisers

  1. Magazine drive didn't earn enough money
  2. We need a new fundraiser to bring in a lot of money. +- 30,000 dollars.
  3. We're hoping to do one this spring, to test it out.

 

Backpack Rule/Discussions with Mr. Miliken

  1. We have talked about the no backpack rule with Mr. Miliken
  2. We talked a little bit about the dress code.
  3. We talked about the Pride Assemblies with Ms. Wang.
  4. An idea: Rather than giving out gift cards to other places, give out gift cards for the lunch line, like money in your account.
  5. Starting a school store; a big project. It would be an actual class.
  6. Some kids want to keep pride assemblies; some kids think it's a waste of time. We're trying to think of ways to make it fun.
  7. One pride area for pride cards and an activity.
  8. We can't have pride assemblies during class.
  9. We're not really getting a lot of pride cards, so we can't even win anything.
  10. On the pride assemblies we could have people choose a gift card for this amount of money.
  11. We could put chairs in the pride assemblies.
