Students at Jordan may have access to a wide range of technologies, including computers and the Internet. With Jordans link to the Internet, students now have access to computer networks around the world, providing open access to local, national, and international sources of information and collaboration vital to intellectual inquiry in a democracy. Technology at Jordan is utilized and shared by large numbers of students and staff. For this reason, we need to have a set of rules that keeps things running smoothly. Every Jordan user is expected to act in a responsible, ethical, and legal manner. The student and his/her parent(s) are warned that Jordan does not have control of the information on the Internet, nor does it provide any barriers to account holders accessing the full range of information available other than those constraints imposed by finite resources. The Internet may contain material that is illegal, defamatory, inaccurate, or potentially offensive to some people. While Jordans intent is to make Internet access available to further its educational goals and objectives, students will have the ability to access other material as well. Jordan believes that the benefits to educators and students from access to the Internet, in the form of information resources and opportunities for collaboration, far exceed any disadvantages of access. But ultimately, parent(s) of minors are responsible for setting and conveying the standards that their child or ward should follow. To that end, Jordan supports and respects each familys right to decide whether or not to apply for Jordan access.
