Art 1B Curriculum Map - Seventh and Eighth Grades

This is an intermediate level course in which students continue to develop visual art skills acquired in Art 1A. This course covers a variety of two and three dimensional art experiences with emphasis upon technique, expression, historical and multicultural influences. Students are expected to show an increased level of production and ability in their study of drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. More time is given to difficult assignments and challenges in order to grasp the medium, historical significance and cultural heritage. The elements and principles of art and design serve as a foundation for the lessons presented. Students reflect both verbally and in written form about their work and the art work of others.
MAJOR UNITS OF INSTRUCTION may or may not be taught in this sequence. Time varies per unit. Standards listed are aligned to state and PAUSD art content.
